Set of 7 Roman Classics Harback Books (Loeb Classical Library)

Sold

Wonderful set of Roman classics. These books are all cloth bound with gilt lettering. The monogram on the front cover (LCL) stands for Loeb Classical Library. The Loeb books were published jointly by Heinemann and Harvard University Press starting in 1912.

These books range in publication from the 1920s-40s. Although there is typical age toning to the paper, they are in remarkably good condition and are sturdy enough to be used and read. They belonged to separate personal libraries (as seen by the various Ex Libris tags) before being brought together in the previous owners collection.

The text is formatted to Latin on the left hand page and the English translations on the right hand.

Condition: Varies per book, but all show age typical of a book of 80-90 years old. The Juvenal/Persius book has waters stains on the front cover, as seen in the last picture. The covers vary in tones of red ranging from deep crimson to brighter brick red.

Measurements: All books are the same size and measure 6.5" tall by 4.5 wide
