Light filled impressionist scene of Venice from the 1920s. Of particularnote are the reflections on the water; they bounce light around the canvas and encourage your eye to move across the work.
Charles Houben was the son of a Dutch industrialist who settled in France. He studied painting at Leige and architecture in Brussels. He traveled after WWI, painting in Venice, Flanders, France, Tunisia and Morocco. He was primarily an impressionist landscape painter.
